FanDuel named as partner of Toronto Tempo
Sportsbook operator FanDuel has entered a multi-year agreement with the Toronto Tempo, the first Canadian basketball team to play in the WNBA.
The deal, announced on April 28, makes FanDuel the first official sportsbook and casino partner of the new franchise, which is part of the league’s latest expansion. Toronto Tempo is set to debut in the 2026 season in May, along with another expansion team, Portland Fire.
The agreement includes branding, digital engagement initiatives, and in-arena visibility designed to connect fans with the team. The collaboration will also involve promotional activities that the team say they hope will increase engagement with women’s basketball in Canada. Speaking about the deal, the Chief Revenue Officer at Toronto Tempo, Lisa Ferkul, explained its significance,
“One word to describe this partnership is transformative. Welcoming FanDuel marks a significant milestone for our organization as we continue to build Canada’s first WNBA team and deepen fan engagement.”
FanDuel is also the official sportsbook partner of the WNBA and previously had a sponsorship arrangement with the New York Liberty.
